If you're travelling back the same way, consider driving Jerilderie-Finley-Deniliquin-Shepparton (maybe via Echuca). I found Deni to be a fascinating town, lots of historical buildings, and their Island Sanctuary was worth stretching the legs for. Great fish & chip shop too (the one with all the salads on display, in Cressy Street I think). :) Cobar's a great little town. Charleville is fantastic with lots to see, and that whole drive in to Brissy via Miles is great. Interesting route, should be a great trip.
