		<description>I will get some more info re points b tomorrow...

Point A: Yes they make the money with the hardware as well as the App Store. But then it is all part of the Walled Garden that I was refering to. Keeping everything in house, hardware and software. Why does a PC cost 1/3 or greater less than a Mac. Surely is it not all the OS :-), given that at least for the desktop environment they are using the same components as a PC :-)./

Point C: is an easy argument to take up. Why H264 and not Theroa for the video codec. If Apple really wanted HTML 5 why did they object so strongly to the draft for the video container. The draft spec for HTML 5 said go with Theora. This non acceptance of the draft spec has splintered HTML 5 into 3 camps... IE (with no video support), FF running Theora for Video and Safari running H264.

&lt;blockquote&gt;&quot;Apple Computer have also opposed the inclusion of Ogg formats in the HTML standard on the grounds that H.264 performs better and is already more widely supported, citing patents and the lack of precedents of &quot;Placing requirements on format support&quot;, even at the &quot;SHOULD&quot; level, in HTML specifications&quot;&lt;/blockquote&gt;

		<description>Great post, however I feel it would be more convincing if you&#039;d do a bit more research and refute the following points before they bite you:

a) Apple doesn&#039;t make enough money with the AppStore to make the &#039;it&#039;s all about the money&#039; part of your headline work.
b) Apple was from the beginning not keen on the AppStore anyway and wanted all Apps to be web apps. The AppStore was only added due to developer pressure.
c) Apple is vehemently pushing the open standard of HTML5 which allow developers to build Apps without any approval process and more or less for free.

Apart from these minor contradictions I think you really got something there.</description>
